Little Things

Little things can mean a lot a
Single rose on the counter top
Given with love by a child.

A Betta fish named Blue Knight
Teaches me valuable lessons
Between desired things and
Necessity.

A Chihuahua dog lost as a pup
Upon the streets, offers thanks
And love for merely food to eat.

Little things can mean a lot
Little treasures shared from
The earth, nature's touch to
Soften life's cares.

When my nephew was 5 he came to my door and asked me to play. I was studying for my finals and told him I was much too busy. He returned twice more with the same request and recieved the same answer. He returned one more time with bloody fingers and a mangled rose he'd plucked from a bush outside.

You know I quit studying and went out to play.
