Confused Little Faces

Lost, abandoned, perhaps ignored
Little children afraid, untrusting
Crying, shaking.
Little children with feelings so strong
Confused young faces, waiting for yet
Another wrong.
They could speak, if not for their fears
And tell stories, to burn our ears.
Beautiful children with so much to give
Why, are they treated so poorly?
How can we give them guidance today
So they may grow and become strong
enough to give some away.

How can we
How do we
How shall we

I went for a job interview and was touched by what I saw. So many little people in need of care. If you find the answer to How can we, How do we,How shall we please let me know. I can only hope.

This is why I am a teacher. This is why I choose to work in an innercity school. I cannot heal bodies, but I can try to enrich minds. I can offer love. I can nurture dreams.

It is not enough. It does not reach all. It is my little part.

I work with the elderly. It saddens me to witness the young so burdened. Yes, we each must do some part to pass along if only one brief moment of joy. I think I feel a poem coming from that one, let's hope!!
