City Exit

We exit the city along back roads
To avoid the early morning lanes
Of unmoving cars that appear parked
In what are called "express lanes"
Once uncertain of our moves we enter
The highway and with smiles we cruise
Ahead of the snarled traffic
We escape the confines of the city
Its buildings, people, its wonders and
Seek space, open roads, trees, sweet
Air, ocean breeze, country farm, starry
Skies that still shine clear
We are enveloped today in a natural gift
That cannot be wrapped
It merely is
Placed here for our appreciation and
Joyfulness.

Hi Pauline, as ever refreshing
A few words gently placed
laced with emotion
and a little magic potion
fill my spirits, and
thus I flutter another day!

Wishing you a lovely afternoon.

PS - Pauline, love the message at my place: "Chin up" haven't heard that expression in God knows how long - well not said to me.

But fear not, the darkness does not reflect a sombre mood - it is just there.
After all how would we see the stars twinkle in the night, if the sky were not black.

My mood & Spirits restored
I now swiftly fly high
Wishing you a lovely afternoon, - Q

I love this piece! It vibrates with the sense of adventure spiced by a bit of playful naughtiness. Very well done.
