The plaque on the bench read
"For those who enjoy nature."
After a walk along a winding gravel
Road, we approached a bench
Nestled above the marsh
And canopied by natural tree growth
We sat observing sandpipers, clouds
The wake from passing boats
We waved to those passing and
They responded
I laughed at myself
Pretending this place had been claimed
And those passing by, although friendly
Were envious of our private domain.
