Vet Visit for Rina (Ballerina)

The veterinarian asks routine questions.
I answer yes to her litany, establishing
the dog is fine. My dog I am told has a
slipped knee cap that has fused itself.
I reply,"Just like me, we're twins." She
has a heart murmur. It is advisable that
she have a senior work-up to avoid or
offset complications of age. I ask,
"should the owners also have the tests?"
They are polite, yet I can tell they do not
enjoy the silence of each attempt to ring
the cash register drawer, as I hold tight.
My dog is getting old. Five hundred dollars
of tests cannot change that fact. She is 84
in dog years. If love and comfort can keep
her here longer then she may well outlive us.
This well visit cost me $166.50 and if I let it
a slight decline in my mood. I know my dog
and she knows me. We are content to age
gracefully. Old isn't such a bad thing when
you consider the alternative!

Hi Pauline, What a loving and beautiful post about aging gracefully together with your loving little spirit friend. I loved that you asked the vet if the owners should have the tests too!! With some of the doctors I have known, there are times I would rather see a vet!

I love how you end this, "I know my dog and she knows me. We are content to age gracefully. Old isn't such a bad thing when you consider the alternative!"

May you and your dog have a beautiful, peaceful, glorious, young-at-heart day.

The two of you may be aging gracefully together, but I bet you and Rina are both still young in spirit. No matter how old she gets, she will alwys be a dancing, young Ballerina in your heart; and you will always be the chosen companion of her puppyhood.

Sad isn't it - Simony
I wonder how much of what they offered they would offer you and your dog if it were free, ie they were paid for being there and providing a service, rather than make the most profit in the least of time.

Sorry, you've touched a nerve. It affected your mood, but it gets right up my goatee, makes my blood boil. I think of all sins the sin of simony or charging for the gift of healing is the worst.
Anyone who does not realise the great sin of refusing to heal someone or their dog (when possible) unless they can afford $500.00 just hasn't understood Christ. Did he charge anyone???
Does he charge for his forgiveness and our spiritual healing.

Believe it is easier for a camel to make it thru the eye of a needle than for the Medical & vet profession to enter heaven.

Some will, but it will be those who genuinely did what they could for people and animals, not those who made their judgements according to the size of patient's wallets. Away from me for I know you not, is what the Lord shall say to them.

I was hungry and you didn't feed me
I was thirsty and you didn't give me drink

And when did we do (or rather not do) these things they shall ask.

Each time you refused one of these little ones, each time yourefused someone in need, each time you placed someone with more over someone with less - each time you did these things to me

Easy Tiger! It is for us to listen and determine the need of another. The medical profession has its place but they cannot restore a life, nor prolong the determined time alloted from above.
Breath and relax. All is well!
