First Impressions

Wearing his Franciscan robe, he appeared
to glide along the floor with silent steps.

Gentleness, with a peaceful presence.
Something unusual about his being.
Approachable, quiet ,yet strikingly different.
Sincerity evoked in his smile, expressed in
His soft spoken words.
First impressions of a Franciscan robe
Left my spirit touched
With hope.

Pauline, I had the blessing of spending a long weekend at a working Monestary (St. Andrew's, Victorville, CA). It was like a little slice of Heaven on Earth. Silence was observed by all (guests included) from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. daily. Silence began after, and was broken by, prayer. It was a very healing place.

Quilldancer, aren't we fortunate to have experienced such tranquility upon this planet earth.

There something "different" about Fransiscans, isn't there?
