We live in a land of opportunity. We have a wealth
of cultural gifts available to experience. Fear of the
unknown and a feeling of being different can inhibit
us from enjoying the cultural diversity around us.
My last post reflected a native American pow wow
(gathering). This was a good opportunity to learn
the meaning of dance and ceremony witnessed but
not understood . The people were patient and informative
The grand entrance(parade of feathers) was a visual treat.
The corn fritters were mouthwatering delicious.
This weekend we visited a Grecian festival. I didn't have
the opportunity to photograph the dancers but they were
dressed in traditional costume. The music was happy
filled with the joy of life. It was nearly impossible to stay
still. Music is a wonderful vehicle for celebration. Again
the food which I couldn't pronounce was a delight to the
taste buds as well as to the eye.
I guess I needed to take this moment to share these
positive events and perhaps encourage others to step
outside the perimeter of the every day routine. We are
all sharing the same planet, the same time frame. If we
allow ourselves we can learn that although the outward
appearance is different inside we all yearn for the same
things. Acceptance.

Pauline,
I went to a Grecian Festival a couple of years ago. I loved the music, loved the dancing, loved the food.
I have always liked experiencing different cultures and the easiest and fastezst ways to connect are through music, dancing and food.
Absolutely!
Diversity & variety

Pauline -- Bill cannot post here, either. He asked me to come by and tell you he still reads, and he is still touched by your words, even though he cannot tell you so.
