Homeless, living on the streets
Sleeping in doorways and
Bridges as canopies
This man is hidden by tattered
Clothes and unshaven face
Yesterday he stood in uniform
With pride serving our country
Now identity is lost somewhere
In the city streets
People glance away
Confused emotions play
He wonders where his
Yesterdays have gone
When he stood proud in uniform.

It is shameful that this country does not better honor it's warriors.
Haunting works Pauline, it is like this on our side of the Border as well. It took years for the Canadian Government to recognize the Merchant Seamen in WWII and give benefits. They had it the worst and basically were on their own on the North Atlantic.
God Bless all our Veterns and Members of the Armed Forces in Both Countries for what they did or are doing to keep us free.
Blessings Pauline for you and your family
