When you first feel a cold
coming on
Your head is fuzzy and the
sinuses ache
Your brain malfunctions
and you make foolish
mistakes!
Does anyone know?
how the common cold shuts
down the brain into this
sleeping mode
Does anyone know?
for today I seek deep fulfilling
information
of sinuses and stuffy head
that rob my brain of simple tasks
Hot tea and bed call for me
But if by chance you could explain
the absence of my brain...
I thank you from that conscious part
that for this moment I still claim!

I think the impulses that direct the brain get caught in the sinus passage ways...which of course is blocked by the swelling and fluids in the tissues.
I have to smile despite the fact that I am sorry you are feeling miserable. You write about daily everyday things in a humorous way. I appreciate you!
I have taken a cold's ability to shut down the brain as an excuse to shut myself down without guilt. Now, if I could only give myself permission without the cold; D
