Sights And Sounds

Sights and sounds of an eighth birthday
Happy faces surround the table to over
Flowing capacity with smiles and remnants
Of pizza from their meal
Children appear to evaporate into the play
Room and there voices of celebration are
Muffled by carpet and insulation
A parade of running feet stampede through
The house on their way upstairs
So much energy and joy displayed
I watch this flow of exuberance passing by
Leaving behind a wake of adult smiles
Postured movements that pause for brief
Camera clicks
Pictures that will be viewed in later years
Accompanied with smiles and remembrances
Of this eighth birthday year.

Happy Birthday, Johnny! I remember such scenes from my own childhood.

Pauline, I've been gone a little while and now it's taking me time to catch up. You've been writing some really beautiful things on here! I don't want to miss any of it - I get 'visuals' when I'm reading these.
