Wanting to take a walk and experience
the outdoors; I found myself alone.
Other people sat in their cars with the
motors running to stay warm. With a
somewhat childish attitude I decided
to take a walk, and not more than a few
steps had me gliding along the ice patch.
This was so wonderfully silly and freeing.
I was a child without concerns, except for
the nagging voice that said caution. My elder
being spoke words of wisdon and I returned
to the safety of the car and its heater; yet the
child within was smiling. Look I told
that grown up practical voice...I didn't hurt
myself and the air is crisp and there are
no city crowds just me and my moment
of play! I stayed awhile and watched the
winter water dressed as frozen ice, a slurpy
with no straw. The little things in life that give
us joy...

Pauline -- I am glad your ice capades brought you joy.
I love it that you recognized and exercised your 'child within'. I personally think that life would be a little easier for everyone if they could do this more often. Living, and being a 'grown up' is very wearing - we all need that release. (hubby thinks I exercise my 'child' a little too often - lol)
I love the "little things". Expressing the child within!
I say that's wonderful!

I am glad you had a moment to experience life with a Child's eye even if it was only for a few minutes. It is nice to be able to escape and have that bit of fun and excitement of a Child. Glad you didn't hurt yourself on your wee walk. With age comes wisdom (I keep telling myself ~ someday I will listen to it.)
I love your line, "...a slurpy without a straw..." Great. Acting out the best of childhood.
this is priceless. firstly that you had this moment, all to yourself, to nurture and embrace little you.
this happens most easily for me when i'm walking through fallen autumn leaves. i can but help running and running!
