Close Enough

" Close Enough!"
he whispered
then
with rapid wings
unfurled
he left me watching
his magestic flight
now just a memory
of hidden beauty
I had discovered there

We have heron on the river down the street from us. They are so fascinating to watch.

By some weird fluke, a heron arrived here at Floyd LAmb State Park a couple of years ago. By some weirder fluke, it was the only time I have ever been out there. He was a lovely and breathtaking as this fellow. Great pic, Pauline!

I love herons, Pauline! I know they eat all the fish from garden ponds, but seeing one flying over occassionally always cheers me... they are such elegant birds to look at! Nicely captured (how did you get so close! ) and I enjoyed your poem with the picture too!
