Memories from the past
stirred with laughter a
touch stone connecting
loving moments long
forgotten of an uncle
and his nephews
Sunday outings at the
Blue Roof restaurant
fishing from the dock
summer vacations with
painted trees as totem
poles
house repairs and maintenance
jobs
a quiet man almost without
notice
formed a loving band of
memories
Strange how the years can rip
apart the fiber of a man
leaving him empty
sad at heart
turning to alcohol in attempts
to fill the void
when all he really had to do
was look inside to find
a ring of loving bands
that he forgot he sent
Now gone his ripples
of good intent still spiral
memories and laughter
shared
all from his efforts
that formed
a loving band...

Strange how we are just passing moments in the fabric of spacetime
Hi pauline! Thank you for the lovely picture painted...indeed we need to discover who we are, otherwise living a mere existence -- addiction to fill the void.
quasar, indeed we are just passing moments in the fabric of spacetime, yet we leave our mark upon the fabric for generations to come!:)
twilite, discovery of who we are is often challenging;sadly, often forgotten along life's journey.
As the years pass we sometimes forget the impact we made on others. It is sad when one forgets how important they are to others and the influences they have made and left on them.
thankyou for sharing Pauline
Very moving Pauline....
thank you!
it is very touching Pauline. it is my life. its like reading my story.
Only a very sensitive person like you can come out with such emotions.
Thank you Pauline.
bill, we are very much unaware of the impact we make on each others lives. sometimes a mere passing through may generate a lasting memory.
katie, hope all is well with you, thanks for the comment :)
rauf, after fifteen years I received a visit from Neil's nephew. It was wonderful to remember the kindness of this man. Neil was my stepfather. It is obvious that we have different memories but this visit allowed me to focus on the better times, the gentler times, the kinder times....
"Blessing" to you on your journey :)
You really made me think with this one, Pauline. It's very deep and moving. I'm always so in awe of your talent.
pauline,
these lines touch the heart. in the end, the only love we take is the love we make. and that also means reaching out , forgiving, loving, to those who are alone within.
i am here, just quiet for a while. :)
take care.
