Window Seat

It was an apartment on Storrow Drive
In Boston
My brother and I would visit our
Mother on weekends
A large window faced a flat rooftop
From which my brother and I would
Toss coins to the Salvation Army
As they played music
I can see my brother at age six
Sitting on that window sill
Asking the grown up a question
When are you going to marry my mother?

Beautiful & very powerful. This reminds me of reading short stories in literature class. I was always amazed at how much information could be conveyed in such a small amount of words!
