Squirrels busily racing about
The lawns searching, working
In preparation for winter storage
People with all sorts of tools
Hammering, painting, sealing
In preparation for winter storage
Amazing to observe the frantic
Pace of humans and animals
Racing against the natural cycle
Of summers end
Witnessing the fall season
Stealing sunlight from our days
Fall is shouting
Hurry, hurry winter is on the way.

Hi Pauline,
I hope not to disappoint you, but we humans are the epitomy of created matter. Of course there are "higher beings" - we ourselves, our inner beings, in our non physical form. But you cannot take decay & disease, fear & hate, into the 'next' world. These are confined to the realm of 'matter'
Pauline -- this poem made me smile. Humans do get a bit squirrelly as the seasons change.
Please, why would I wish to take decay and or disease, fear and or hate into the next world. These are manmade "gifts" to be left behind with joyfulness. Why can't we spend money on this planet to aquire knowledge for shedding these problems (gifts)now...why wait. We have so much goodness to share. Lets stop the cloudcover of despair.
