What I Really Know About Secrets

WHAT I REALLY KNOW (about secrets)

We all have them is the honest truth. Secrets are like people; they come in different shapes and size. Some bring joy and some bring sadness, others leave behind a magnitude of questions that all begin with “why.”

Often a secret is held for a short time in an attempt to surprise a loved one; such as in planning for that special birthday party. Some secrets involve a neighbor or a friend; information confided that we hold within for an allotted time.

Some cause pain without intent. The secret once spoken or revealed is a dagger that wounds. Had it been spoken or revealed with explanations there may have been opportunity to mend and heal. The wound it caused may have been prevented if only this secret hadn’t been stored inside.

Some people thrive on secrecy, no matter what the subject. They live their lives in constant struggle; thinking they are experiencing something new, extraordinary, unknown to others.

Yet I tell you this or should I say remind you, there is no event that has not been done before. So open yourself and let it out, those secrets hiding in yourself.

You may be so wonderfully surprised to learn that someone else may have already guessed. In speaking freely you will find freedom applied like a soothing balm upon the mysteries you stored deep inside.

The greatest secret is the lie that you and I convince ourselves that we are different from the rest. That deep within our secrets lie and no one knows their content.

So in closing I will say each secret is a story yet untold. I am sure that someone loves you and would really like to hear that special secret that you think you cannot share.

Pauline, you hit the nail on the head with this one. Beautifully written. I learned long ago that 'I'm only as sick as the secrets I keep'.
